The Indian crane manufacturer Anupam Industries has constructed two of the first 350 tonne capacity forging cranes to ever be developed in India. The company forged the cranes under a technical licence agreement with Mitsubishi Heavy Industries and the cranes will be supplied to construction engineering firm Larsen and Toubro Forgings.

The cranes have already been installed at the firm’s steel and heavy forging plant in Hazira, Gujarat. They will be utilised in the creation of turbine shafts for use in nuclear power plant turbine generators.

Each crane has a capacity of 350 tonnes, with a 33m span and a 50 tonne auxiliary hoist. The cranes have been manufactured to standards put in place by Mitsubishi Heavy Industries.

Anupam Industries’ managing director, Mehul Patel, hopes that the job will prove that his company is capable of providing similar services on a global level. He states “We believe in customer delight and innovation, and we are standing strong today with this achievement due to our vast experience, technical expertise, support of MHI and whole hearted contribution of our employees.

“We have already created a strong presence on the steel mill segment by supplying high-end ladle cranes and steel mill duty cranes to various industry leaders. With this achievement we have reinforced ourselves as the specialist crane solution provider to the steel industry.”
