A recent report issued by the Ministry of Industry in Sudan claims that the country will be looking to improve the iron and steel industries in the country by completing an in-depth survey of the obstacles facing both industries.
Currently there are 30 iron and steel plants in the country, with 14 handling steel production. However the increased transformation in the building and construction industry has led to a higher demand for both materials.
Extra work will be undertaken in areas including the Red Sea, River Nile, Nuba Mountains, Darfur and southern Sudan, which indicates that the country is also looking to build up international and foreign partnerships.
The report explained that the reinforcing industry is a key part of the building materials industry, noting that the Sudanese Standards and Metrology Corporation set a standard for steel spit to contribute to the quality control of the product. As such, with the construction industries continued growth, a sustained growth in the steel industry is required.
